![]() ![]() The album was due for release in April 1968 but, like Chris Fralow's Best Of and PP Arnold's The First Lady of Immediate, it became a victim of the label's dire financial situation, and was effectively unreleased-or withdrawn, as a few finished copies did reach the marketplace. It was a masterpiece: Oldham finally achieved his own pocket symphonies, and the star-studded cast included all four Small Faces, John Paul Jones, Nicky Hopkins, Caleb Quaye, Big Jim Sullivan and Immediate artists Jerry Shirley (From Apostolic Invervention & Humble Pie) and Twice As Much. Billy Nicholls "Would You Believe" (estimated value 2000 pounds!)Īndrew Loog Oldham's most convincing attempt to create England's answer to The Beach Boys' "Pet Sounds" was "Would You Believe", recorded in late 1967/early 1968.
